Apsides describe the nearest (2) and furthest (1) points of an orbiting body around its host

The points of greatest or least distance of the elliptical orbit of an astronomical object, from its center of attraction.

In the case of the elliptical path of a planet around the sun, these are the aphelion and the perihelion; and in the case of the moon's orbit around the earth, the apogee and the perigee.
