Like Astro*Carto*Graphy, Cyclo*Carto*Graphy was developed by the American astrologer Jim Lewis. Whereas the former technique is concerned with calculating the conjunctions of planets with an axis at the time of birth for any given location – where they are considered to be dominant – the latter indicates events caused by triggers. A natal chart indicates an individual's abilities in a potential state which transits can help to trigger and make manifest over time. Cyclo*Carto*Graphy shows which triggers will occur during a particular period of time. Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars lines show their shift in location according to secondary progressions and at which point in time they form a conjunction with a particular axis. A different method is used when calculating the lines for the slower-moving planets Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto with their transit position being used to find out the timing of conjunctions with an axis.
