Die amerikanische Astrologin und Schriftstellerin Maritha Pottenger wurde am 21.5.1952 um 7:36 Uhr in Tucson (Arizona) geboren.

Biographie

Pottenger beschäftigt sich bereits seit ihrem 11. Lebensjahr mit Astrologie, was ihrer Mutter, der bekannten Astrologin Zipporah Dobyns zu verdanken sein düfte. Sie studierte Psychologie an der University of California (Berkeley), und erwarb im Jahr 1974 dort ihren Bachelor of Arts, im Jahr 1976 wurde ihr der Master of Arts in Klinischer Psychologie an der California School of Professional Psychology verliehen. Darüber hinaus ist sie auch in der Kirche sehr aktiv, bereits 1977 wurde sie zur Priesterin der Community Church of Religious Science ordiniert, 1998 erwarb sie dort auch einen Doktortitel.

Von 1976 bis 1996 unterrichtete sie Astrologie und Psychotherapie auf der Feathered Pipe Ranch in Helena, Montana, im Rahmen der Sommer-Seminare für Ganzheitliches Leben. Seit 1975 war Pottenger Mitveranstalterin der Workshops ihrer Mutter Zip Dobyns für die Association for Humanistic Psychology, und hielt Seminare in den gesamten Vereinigten Staaten sowie Kanada. Darüber hinaus ist sie Referentin auf vielen astrologischen Kongressen, seit 1980 auch in Europa und Australien. Von 1983 bis 1998 war sie in der Redaktionsleitung des astrologischen Fachverlags ACS Publications. Sie schrieb dort, neben einer Reihe astrologischer Fachbücher, auch Textmodule für Astrologiesoftware. Sie gibt darüber hinaus auch astrologische Beratungen.

Ihr Wohnsitz ist in San Diego, California.
Sie ist die Schwester von Mark Pottenger und Rique Pottenger.
